An elderly walker was injured and her beloved pet dog had to be put down after it was attacked by another dog at Chelveston renewable energy farm, the former American air base.

The attack happened on Tuesday, August 18, between 7pm and 7.30pm when a couple parked in a lay-by to walk their dogs.

They put their dogs on leads and heard someone call out to a dog. They waited next to their car for them to pass, but a black dog came out of a nearby field and knocked over the woman, who is in her 70s.

The black dog then attacked one of the couple's dogs. Sadly, the pet had to be put down.

The attacking dog is described as a Staffy-cross and was pulled off the victim by a woman who put it on a red lead. She gave the couple her name and mobile number, but they have been unable to contact her.

A police spokesman said: "The dog walker is described as white, in her late 30s or early 40s, she had short brown hair and tattoos.

"She was in black leggings and a T-shirt.

"She was with two men and a brown and white Spaniel-type dog."

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for the dog walker to contact them. Anyone with information or anyone who may recognise the description or her or the dog should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
