Wellingborough Magistrates' Court heard he was caught driving in Husbands Bosworth in Leicestershire on April 2 this year when he was disqualified, before giving the drug reading which exceeded the legal limit.

Then, on November 26, he was caught driving again in Victoria Street in Desborough when he was banned.

He also had no insurance and was found in possession of cannabis.

Bates, of Harrington Road, was hauled before magistrates where he admitted two charges of driving whilst disqualified, one count of drug-driving, one count of possession of cannabis and another of driving without insurance.

Magistrates decided to jail him because of his "repeat offending in breach of a court order".

He was jailed for a total of 24 weeks and given a 33-month driving ban.

He must also pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128.
