A Desborough man was arrested by police after a hit-and-run late on Friday night (September 25).

Leicestershire police officers were called to Market Harborough's Abbey Street after an incident involving a van and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 21-year-old man, was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening or life-changing.

It had been reported that the van had left the scene of the collision.

An 18-year-old man from Desborough was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning (September 26) on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation and enquiries are ongoing.
