Northampton Crown Court.

A Kettering man who engaged in sexual activity with a young girl he knew was under the age of consent has been spared from prison.

Daniel Rush, 29, will have to sign the register for sex offenders after he was convicted of sexual activity with a female under 16 at Northampton Crown Court.

The sickening incident took place in June 2018 and Rush, of Judith Road on the Grange estate, was sentenced this week.

He faced a possible custodial sentence but was spared from prison and handed a 30-month community order.

He will be made to sign the register for sex offenders for five years and will be subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman told the Northants Telegraph: "He knew full well that she was under the age of consent but still continued in his sickening behaviour.

“No sentence can make up for the effect Rush’s depraved actions have had on this girl but we would like to commend her for seeing this case through to court.

"She can be satisfied that it is her bravery which will now see Rush recognised as the sex offender he is."

Rush will also have to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £85.

A second charge of sexual activity with a female under 16 will lie on file.
