Cyclist attacked by Corby gang who tried to rob his bike

A cyclist was attacked by a gang who tried to rob his bike in Corby's town centre on Saturday afternoon (October 31).

Police have launched an investigation after the victim, a man in his 40s, was assaulted in Corporation Street between 2.15pm and 2.30pm.

He cycled past a group of four males as he headed towards Elizabeth Street but one of the males approached him and assaulted him as he attempted to steal his bike.

The victim managed to push the first offender to the ground but was then assaulted by a second member of the group.

He managed to move away and cycled off but as a result of the incident he sustained bruising to both his head and body.

No descriptions of the men were released by police.

A police spokesman said: "Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have any information which could help with this investigation.
