Corby stalker jailed and handed five-year restraining order after 'campaign of hate' against woman
Glen Sinclair, 34, has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison for his targeted campaign against a woman.
Northamptonshire Police reported that Sinclair, of Greenhill Rise, Corby appeared at Northampton Crown Court on Friday, October 17, where he was handed two years and nine months in prison, a five-year restraining order that prevents him from contacting the woman by any means, and a £228 victim surcharge upon his release.
Messages to the woman, the police said, resulted in Sinclair being charged with stalking involving fear of violence, breach of a non-molestation order and sharing an intimate photograph/film of a person without consent.
Detective Constable Richard Horsburgh from the force’s Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, who led the investigation, said: “Glen Sinclair’s intolerable behaviour was totally unacceptable, and I would like to praise the courage and strength of this woman.
“I hope this sentence provides the woman with the chance to rebuild her life without living in fear. I also hope it sends a strong message to other perpetrators that we will act against anyone who engages in this type of behaviour.
“Stalking and harassment are serious crimes which can have a devastating impact on the lives of victims, their family and friends and we would encourage anyone who has been affected by this type of behaviour to please contact us and speak to an officer in confidence.”
In one message to the woman, Sinclair said ‘hopefully no-one chucks acid in your face, that would be a shame’, before telling a third-party via a separate text that he had paid someone to carry out the attack.
After several appearances at Northamptonshire Magistrates’ Court, on September 4, Sinclair changed his plea from not guilty to guilty for all three offences which took place in July this year.
