Corby man spat in face of local police sergeant after arrest

A Corby man taken into custody following a row in Gainsborough Road decided to spit in the face of a local police sergeant to express his displeasure.

William Miekle of Eastbrook, Corby, was arrested along with Craig Hall, of Gainsborough Road, following an altercation on May 3 last year.

But when Miekle, 29, was taken into custody, he spat over Sgt Rachel Grey's face and clothes.

He was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and a public order offence, to which he pleaded guilty when he appeared before magistrates last week.

Hall, 29, was charged with a public order offence.

Miekle was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and told to pay compensation of £300. He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.

Hall was fined £288 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85.
