Corby man scared off would-be burglar in his back garden

Police have issued a warning to keep doors and windows locked on warm nights

A man was woken by someone attempting to burgle his home in Dumble Close on Corby's Snatchill estate.

Between 11.30pm on Tuesday, June 15 and 12.30am on Wednesday, June 16, the homeowner was woken by the noise of the side gate being opened. He has shouted at the person to leave, which they did.

The criminal did manage to get into the house, but as the warm temperatures at night continues officers are also encouraging residents to ensure all windows and doors are locked and secure, including gates.
