A man who persisted in sending abusive texts to a former partner has been given a jail sentence after continuing to send messages despite being ordered to stop by two separate courts.

Kevin Wallace, 30, was originally handed a non-molestation order in March by a judge sitting at Northampton Family Court, ordering him to send only texts relating to child contact issues to a former partner.

He breached that order by sending more messages on May 5 and appeared before a magistrate in November who handed him a 12 week sentence - suspended for 12 months - on the condition that he did not commit any more offences.

But then on December 10 Wallace, of Newark Drive, Corby, sent a string of abusive texts to the victim not relating to child contact. Last Friday, December 11, he again appeared before Northampton Magistrates' Court where JPs imposed the original 12 week sentence as well as a further 12 week prison term to run consecutively.

They said that Wallace had a 'flagrant disregard' for court orders. He was also given a restraining order to last 12 months and had to pay £85 in court costs and £128 to victim services.
