A Corby man has been sentenced by a court after sending texts and making phone calls to a victim.

Carl Docherty, of Kingsthorpe Avenue, Corby, was given a six month jail term, suspended for two years, after the court heard he had repeatedly tried to contact his victim between December 6 and December 31, 2020.

The 32-year-old was subject to a restraining order imposed by Northampton Magistrates' Court last year that prevented him from contacting her but he continued to do so. That restraining order was made when he had breached a previous restraining order, again preventing him from contacting the victim.

Docherty was also ordered to complete Building Better Relationships Programme and to pay costs and fees of £123. A new restraining order was imposed that lasts until January 2022.
