Burglary warning after man caught trying Corby door handle

Police are urging people in Corby to make sure they check their doors and windows are locked when they go to bed after an attempted burglary.

The occupant of a house in Chequers Close was woken between 1.20am and 1.30am on Friday, September 25, when their dog barked.

When they checked their doorbell footage later that day they saw that three men had been standing at their door at the same time the dog had barked. One had tried the door handle. Footage was not made available by police.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are urging people to be vigilant and are reminding local residents to check all doors and windows are locked and secured as part of their bedtime routine.

"They would also like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have RING or CCTV footage of anyone acting suspiciously in the area between the stated times.

"Anyone who may have any information regarding this incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 20000505478. Or alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
