Bryn and his pals making no bones about catching Northamptonshire's bad guys during the lockdown

Force's newest four-legged recruit gets his first collar

Northamptonshire's police dogs are still out on the beat despite the coronavirus lockdown — particularly their newest recruit.

PD Bryn joined the force as a puppy and finished his training earlier this month.

And the two-year-old German Shepherd quickly followed up on a lead to get his first collar, tracking from a stolen vehicle to find bolt croppers and a jemmy hidden under a van, and then the suspect who was duly arrested.

Bryn is named after another PD Bryn, who was shot and killled protecting his handler PC Ian Chums on a job in Irthlingborough in 1988.

Northants Police Dogs Section post regular Twitter updates using the hashtag #TheNoseKnows.

Bryn's pal PD Kez had a busy night helping locate a vulnerable man across fields while PD Walt helped nabbed two would-be burglars and vital evidence after an an attempted break-in.

But they are all doing their duty by staying at home when off-duty, helping with a few chores like painting fences and cleaning garden furniture.

Extra doggy treats all round!
