A restaurant boss and landlord in Corby has received vicious threats on social media since a serious incident in a property he owns. One particularly nasty post involved a threat to burn down his successful restaurant.

Mohammed 'Rocky' Hussain owns the Royal Tandoori in Rockingham Road and is also a landlord. Following a GBH at a house he rents out in Stephenson Way earlier this month, false rumours began to spread that he was in some way involved in the violent incident.

A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the incident and two men, not connected to Rocky, were arrested.

Police have now confirmed that Rocky is not a part of their investigation.

He said: "We have become aware that there’s a lot of rumours, slander, character assassinations and outright lies being spread about us and our family on social media.

"An ex employee that was renting a room from us in a house on Stephenson Way was arrested.

"As soon as we found out about the arrest, we terminated his contract and evicted him straight away.

"We have not been questioned, cautioned or arrested as people are claiming.

"There are outright lies and rumours being spread by people who are acting as judge and jury on social media.

"We are a family business and absolutely condone any type of acts that are being said."

Royal Tandoori is one of Corby's longest-established food outlets and first opened as a takeaway in 1979. It has won multiple awards including twice being named the best restaurant in the East Midlands by the Asian Curry Awards.

Following a post on his Facebook page yesterday, Rocky has now received dozen of supportive messages from loyal customers. One said: "Corby people are amazing at coming together in tough times so it's very sad to see them turning on each other when we need to be together, strong more than ever."

Two men, aged 34 and 39, remain on police bail in connection with the GBH.
