Attempted murder charge after woman 'suffocates victim with pillow' in Kettering

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after she was accused of trying to suffocate someone with a pillow in Kettering.

Bernadette Mullan, 34, was arrested after police swooped on a house in King Street when the incident took place at about 11.30am on May 6.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, allegedly had a pillow placed over her face in an attempt to suffocate her and was also strangled before a man intervened.

A police spokesman said the victim was not injured in the incident.

Mullan, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody when she faced magistrates in Northampton.

She will next appear at Northampton Crown Court on June 10.
