Attempted murder arrests after Irchester stabbings

Four men arrested after an incident which left multiple people with stab wounds remain in custody this afternoon (Thursday).

The men - aged 19, 36, 37 and 59 - were arrested after an incident in the early hours of New Year's Day at the Gypsy Lane Caravan Park in Gipsy Lane, near Irchester Country Park.

Three men and a woman sustained stab wounds at about 4.40am at the Travellers' site, which has about 20 plots and is owned by the Doherty family.

Police have since revealed the men in custody were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have revealed more about the nature of the injuries sustained.

One man was taken to University Hospital Coventry with stab wounds to his face and neck and multiple injuries including a broken leg.

The female victim was taken to the same hospital with a stab wound to her torso.

Two other men were also transported to Northampton General Hospital with stab wounds.

None of the injuries are life-threatening.
