Police have launched a hunt for an attacker who stole a pedal bike at knifepoint in Northampton on Saturday night.

The 21-year-old victim was riding along Beech Avenue in Abington when the attacker shoved him against a van, got a knife out and then made off with the cycle.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "At about 10pm on Saturday (March 7), a 21-year-old man was cycling along Beech Avenue, near the junction with Birchfield Road East.

"An unknown male pushed him into a van, got a knife out, took the bicycle and made off. The offender is described as a 5ft 7in white male, wearing a black Puffa-style coat and black jogging bottoms.

"We would ask anybody who may have seen this incident or anyone with information to call us on 101 quoting incident number: 200000130820."
