Arrest after man seriously injured in Kettering

A police cordon is in place after a man was seriously injured in Kettering tonight (Friday).

The victim, who is in his 40s, is currently receiving treatment in hospital after the attack on the Highfield estate at about 6.20pm.

Police and paramedics were called to Fishton Close after reports that a man had been seriously injured.

Just after 10pm tonight police confirmed he was stabbed.

A man in his late 30s, believed to be known to the victim, has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Officers remain in the area conducting enquiries and tonight police were standing guard with a grassed area between Highfield Road and Fishton Close taped off.

Nearby residents reported that five police cars and two ambulances were called to the scene.

A police spokesman said: "This is believed to be an isolated incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101."
