Earlier this week we reported how Chief Constable Nick Adderley was planning to hold a public crushing event to help encourage people to stop riding the bikes in public areas without insurance or on footpaths and green spaces in the town.

Yesterday, members of the proactive team, themselves on off-road bikes, managed to catch up with one of the menaces on the Beanfield estate. His bike has been seized and may now be heading for the crusher.

Chief Inspector Kevin Mulligan, who was on the scene when the bike was seized, said on Twitter: "Out on patrol in #Corby. Another nuisance off-roader destined for the crusher."

Speaking on social media in response to public comments, Cheif Constable Adderley said: "A fair few bikes recovered with more to be recovered and crushed. I rode motocross for years as a teenager and into my 20’s. I never found the need to tear down the public highway or on public land, risking the lives of others. It is anti social and unacceptable."
