Crackdown on illegal underage alcohol sales in Corby
Last week it was announced that the Tesco Express store in Oakley Vale was unable to sell alcohol for two weeks after serving underage customers.
Now the Corby Community Safety Team, in partnership with Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP), is cracking down on ‘proxy purchasers’ in the latest project to try to stop the purchasing of alcohol for under-18s.

Corby News & Wine in Elizabeth Street and Danesholme Off Licence on Danesholme Road are supporting the scheme.
A spokesman for Corby Council said: “Purchasing alcohol for anyone under the age of 18 is illegal and could result in a £90 fine.
“It is our priority to make sure that young people are healthy and safe, so we do not condone proxy purchasers in the borough.
“Hopefully this will prevent more people from being irresponsible by buying alcohol for young people.”
