Second abandoned lorry full of rubbish dumped in Corby
North Northamptonshire Council are dealing with a second abandoned trailer packed full of rubbish.
Last week the Northants Telegraph reported on the presence of a trailer that had been left tipped in Long Croft Road, Corby for months.
Now a second trailer has been uncovered dumped in Arkwright Road, which has likely been there since the end of last summer.
Abandoned waste is becoming a huge problem for local authorities. Grifting waste collection firms often charge people for removing their rubbish before buying a cheap trailer and dumping it in a quiet area. The phenomenon is happening up and down the country.

The latest curtain-sided trailer has been left at the back of the Jokey UK plant in Corby. Although its curtain sides and doors are intact, its sides are bulging through the weight of the waste, and the metal roof has been cut open and is flapping dangerously around. Vermin can be seen and heard around the trailer.
Removing such trailers can cost thousands, as the council must sort through the waste before deciding of how to dispose it. If the waste is classed as hazardous, it can cost many more thousands to get rid of it.
A worker at the Jokey site told our reporter that he believed the trailer had been there since at least the end of August and that he had no idea who had dumped it.
Ultimately, the council taxpayer will have to pick up the bill for clearing it. oh
A North Northamptonshire Council spokesman said: “We are aware of the lorry on Arkwright Road and are in the process of resolving the issue.
“As part of the process, we need to go through the waste and classify it, before it can be moved or disposed of.
“Residents should be assured we are working as quickly as possible to remove the lorry and waste.”
