Pair formally plead not guilty to offences in connection with alleged murder of Kettering grandad

A man and woman have appeared in court together for the first time to deny conspiracy and murder charges following the death of John Gerard Boyle in Kettering.

Members of Mr Boyle’s large family were in the public gallery to see the separate cases for Jordan Louise White and John Mills formally joined at a hearing at Northampton Crown Court on Friday (February 13).

The pair are due to stand trial in connection with the death of Mr Boyle in Leatherland Court.

Her Honour Judge Rebecca Crane heard that the body of the 71-year-old had been discovered in his home on November 8 last year, thought to be about 12 days after he died, following concerns over his welfare.

Mills, of Marriott Street, Northampton, is accused of murdering Mr Boyle on October 26, as well as the theft of a car belonging to Mr Boyle on October 27.

White, of Victoria Street, Kettering, is charged with conspiracy to steal money between October 24 and November 9.

Both defendants were arraigned on the charges and both pleaded not guilty. White was released on bail and Mills was returned to custody following the hearing, which also dealt with a number of legal procedural matters.

Mills, 45, is also separately charged with failing to fulfil the notification requirements for sex offenders in that, between October 30 2024 and October 17, 2025, he failed to notify officers he had been living at Victoria Street. He is also accused of not signing the sex offenders’ register in October 2025. He has not entered pleas to those charges.

The pair will appear before the court in May for trial.
