A man accused of a serious assault in Wellingborough is being held in custody ahead of forthcoming court proceedings.

Daniel Stray, 29, appeared before Northampton Crown Court to deny grievous bodily harm with intent which relates to an incident that happened close to Wellingborough town centre on September 11 last year.

Stray, who wore a sports jacket and was supported in court by a female relative during the short hearing before Recorder Louise Cox, denies the S18 GBH offence. He is also charged with possession of a knife and of a baseball bat in Newcomen Road on the same date.

Stray, formerly of Wellingborough, but now of Vale Street, Kettering, is facing a three-day jury trial at the same court in April.
