Little Stanion man who was banned from social media contacted child in care on Facebook

A man who has breached a sexual risk order more than a dozen times has been caught messaging a child on social media.

Jordan McIlhatton-Croll has repeatedly ignored the order that was made last year and designed to protect the public from his sexual advances.

The 19-year-old of Arden Close, Little Stanion, has now been convicted of two more breaches of the sexual risk order and was in court to be sentenced.

Northampton Crown Court heard that police visited his home on August 1 last year to arrest him. He was suspected of being in touch with a 17-year-old boy living in a children’s home.

When they arrived he was asleep on his sofa. Officers seized a tablet from his home and found on it accounts on Instagram and TikTok, from which he was banned. There were multiple messages sent from the accounts.

They also discovered an account on Facebook – from which he is also banned – with messages to his mother and the child in care that police had been concerned about.

His barrister told the court that his record was ‘not at all attractive’.

Her Honour Judge Rebecca Crane heard that he had a lack of stability in his early life, with physical abuse in his childhood which meant he ended up in care. He had also fought leukaemia as a child.

He had been given 60 hours of unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity days as part of his suspended sentences but had only completed one day, which was the introductory meeting.

McIlhatton-Croll has 14 previous convictions.

Judge Crane said to the defendant: “You had a terrible childhood. You also spent time in hospital as a child.”

He was given ten months in prison.
