Little Stanion car meets targeted by police

Police are taking disruptive action to stop regular car meet-ups on an industrial road neighbouring the Little Stanion community.

For several years, locals living in the new estate near Corby have been disturbed by groups of car enthusiasts meeting in Long Croft Road.

The groups, which congregate to admire each others’ motors, can cause a noise nuisance and their manner of driving can pose a serious danger to pedestrians.

Earlier this month, locals reported that 82 cars gathered on the road in just one evening.

Northamptonshire Police sent response officers to the scene who were able to gather the registrations of those cars involved which allows them to monitor their repeated presence at similar events.

They also issued several Section 59 notices that allow them to seize vehicles being driven in an anti-social way.

Officers told our reporters that letters had been sent to all who attended the meet which had had a positive impact on long-suffering residents.

All future incidents should be reported individually to police to ensure officers can build a picture to help them take proactive steps to ease the impact of future gatherings.
