Kettering driver banned over A43 crash which left woman with facial scar
A woman has been handed an interim driving ban over a crash on the A43 which left another motorist with a facial scar.
Nikki Summerlin was driving her Vauxhall Mokka when the incident happened near Broughton as she attempted to overtake another vehicle, which was indicating to turn at a junction, at about 10.15am on January 28 last year.
Court documents said the 50-year-old, of Venus Avenue in Kettering, did not get back into the correct lane in time and collided with another car. This flung her car into the vehicle which was turning off – ending up on top of it – and leaving the driver of it with serious injuries.
Police said the woman, aged in her 60s, suffered a severe cut to her lip that needed stitches and was left with a facial scar and a chipped tooth.

At Northampton Magistrates’ Court Summerlin admitted a charge of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention.
She was handed an interim driving disqualification and granted unconditional bail for a pre-sentence report to be carried out before she is sentenced on September 9.
