Chicken chucker tossed KFC wraps to lags in HMP Five Wells

Hungry convicts dreaming of a takeaway treat at HMP Five Wells were given a finger lickin’ surprise after Toby Blair tossed KFC over the fence.

The stunt was filmed for TikTok, but the chucker ended up under arrest and was in court yesterday (Friday, January 30).

When the clerk at Northampton Magistrates’ Court asked the perpetrator if his name was Toby Blair, he replied ‘unfortunately yes’.

Magistrates were told that Blair was at the Wellingborough jail at about 4.20pm on January 13, 2023, with two pals when they were spotted throwing items over the wall.

The group were arrested and inside the packages were found five KFC wraps, eight Rizla tips and four mini bottles of vodka.

Blair, of Burtle Road, Bridgewater, Somerset, has no previous convictions.

He was in court to admit a charge of throwing a prohibited article into prison, and one of throwing an article into a prison without authorisation.

His solicitor Amos Kangethe said that Blair, 28, had not been in trouble since the incident.

"During that time there was usage of Class-A drugs,” said Mr Kangethe.

"He’s just had surgery on his nose and he’s about to have another surgery to rectify the damage caused by using drugs.”

He said that at one point his client was spending up to £500 per day on cocaine.

"Since then he’s changed his life,” he added.

"At that time he was sofa surfing. He now has suitable accommodation and is no longer using drugs.

"He’s now got a job as a mechanic starting next week.

"He’s on track to be an upstanding member of the public.”

Blair was told by magistrates that he ‘could have ruined the rest of his life’ and that the offence crossed the custody threshold.

However, given the length of time since the offence and Blair’s attempts to rehabilitate, they suspended his six week prison sentence for 12 months. He must also complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.
