Boy sentenced over machete incident in Rushden
A teen has been before the youth court after he was found with a machete in Rushden.
The 17-year-old local boy, who cannot be named because of his age, was at Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court to admit on charge of possession of a machete in the High Street.
It follows an incident on February 16 when the road was closed after members of the public reported a group of young people carrying knives.
There have been ongoing issues in the town in recent months with groups of teens causing anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and thefts.

The boy was before the court earlier this month where he was given a six month youth offender panel contract. It was also ordered that his machete be destroyed. A separate public order charge was withdrawn.
