Barton Seagrave man assaulted woman twice in a week

A thug who launched two separate assaults on a woman has been jailed.

David John Irwin is now behind bars after the incidents in which a woman was assaulted in Kettering.

Irwin, 34, of Bertone Road, Barton Seagrave, at Northampton Crown Court to admit one count of actual bodily harm that happened on September 24, 2025, and a second assault five days later, on September 29.

Both had the same female victim.

On September 26 last year, magistrates imposed a domestic violence protection order on Irwin to protect his victim while he was awaiting charge. He breached that DVPO after just three days and was held in custody for 49 days until the case resolved at the magistrates’ court.

Irwin was back at the crown court earlier this month to face sentence for the two assaults, which he had initially denied before changing his plea in November. He was given 23 months in prison, of which he will serve half in custody before he is released on licence.

He will also have to pay a surcharge of £187.
