Bail refused for Corby man due to stand trial on string of domestic violence charges

A Corby man will stand trial this spring charge with stalking his former girlfriend.
Jamie Devenney, 40, appeared via videolink at Northampton Crown Court yesterday (Friday, March 20) for an administrative hearing ahead of a trial on charges of stalking, harassment and criminal damage.
All the charges relate to his former partner and are said to have taken place in September last year.
On behalf of Devenney, of St Peter’s Way, Corby, barrister Kate McLean applied for bail for her client, who is being held on remand ahead of the trial.
Her Honour Judge Rebecca Crane refused bail. Reasons for bail refusal cannot be publicly disclosed until the conclusion of the proceedings.
Devenney put his head in his hands as he listened to her decision.
Judge Crane set a trial date for May 26 at Northampton Crown Court. It is expected the proceedings, which will take place in front of a jury, will last up to three days.
Devenney continues to deny all the charges.
