The popular 50m pool had finally been due to reopen for lane swimming tomorrow (Saturday, July 25) and for families on Monday. A pre-booked family ‘pod’ system was planned for Monday.

But although the pool will still be open for some pre-booked limited lane swimming tomorrow, it will now not open for families on Monday.

The gym will be available tomorrow and studio classes will begin as planned on Monday, August 3.

A statement from the council tonight (Friday, July 24) said: “We have been working tirelessly to make this as smooth and as safe as possible for both customers and staff.

Although the new measures will make it a different experience, we can assure users that these are in place to keep both customers and staff safe.
