Children in Need - show us your spots!

Pudsey has emerged from his cave, Children in Need day is here, and there are hundreds of fundraising events happening up and down Northamptonshire to help the charity raise more than last year’s record-braking on-the-night total of £37.1m.

In recent years, projects in Northamptonshire have benefitted from CIN funds worth £853,067.

East Northamptonshire Cultural Trust was given £35,185 to provide a summer activity sessions for children with disabilities. Northants Autism Concern was given £99,137 to support children and young people with the condition to help reduce feelings of isolation by getting the more involved with their local communities.

The charity also handed £101,393 to Northamptonshire CAN (The County of Northampton Council of Addiction) which will be used to help children at risk of child sexual exploitation become less vulnerable.

Groundwork Northamptonshire was given £37,506 for environmental projects for disabled children and HomeStart Corby received £58,392 to provide volunteer home support for children and young people affected by poverty and deprivation.

Rowan Gate Primary School in Wellingborough was given £24,715 to provide weekly film-making sessions for disabled children.

And Thomas’s Fund, a charity set up in honour of Thomas Smith, was handed £73,852 to provide music therapy sessions for children with profound disabilities and life-limiting illnesses.

The other recipients of recent CIN money were:

RDA Wilby Trust, Northampton - £27,000: Project to help children with disabilities to attend riding sessions.

Inspiration FM, Northampton - £62,500: To provide radio, video, editing and media training for looked after children and those living in deprived neighbourhoods.

Reelscape Community, Northampton - £8,400: To provide film based activities and training for children and young people affected by deprivation, homelessness and those who are in care.

Northampton C2C Social Action (Crime To Christ Charitable Trust - £10,000 The project supports disadvantaged children and young people through a range of activities including arts, crafts and educational sessions around healthy eating and staying safe.

Northamptonshire Community Law Service - £78,675: The project will provide advice service to disabled children and young people.

Northamptonshire Deafconnect - £98,417: To work with children and young people affected by hearing impairment to help them feel less excluded, communicate better with families and be better able to access support.

Northamptonshire KidsAid Foundation - £79,796: A project to provide counselling and therapy programmes for children and separately for their parents/carers who have experienced trauma.

Northamptonshire Carers - £48,099: To provide monthly support groups for young carers with a mix of fun activities and issue based work.

Northamptonshire R.E.A.L - £10,000: To help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour by allowing young disadvantaged people to access a range of physical activities.from situations of multipledisadvantage to access a range of physical activities.
