Cat owner warns of '˜maniac' shooting Kettering pets with air gun

The woman, who lives in Centre Parade, sent a letter to the Northants Telegraph after hearing about a number of incidents locally.

Now she says she is scared to let her cat out and wants others to be aware of the ‘demon-like’ actions of some individuals.

She said: “Many cat owners are extremely concerned in our area.

“We are worrying about our cats, just lately [there have been] many reports of a maniac in our area shooting cats with an air gun and a catapult.

“My friend’s cat was covered in anti-freeze all on its back, it looks like someone sprayed it deliberately.

“Why are some humans like demons?

“I put my cat on a harness and walk her around my garden now because I’m scared bad things will happen to her if I let her run free.

“I do understand some humans don’t like cats but do you have to harm them? How would you like to be treated this way?

“My cat is a loyal companion. There’s not many humans that can be class as a loyal companion in today’s society.

“There are a lot of anti-social events in this area just lately. It’s not safe for humans either.

“Cats are intelligent beings. Please don’t harm them.”

An RSPCA spokesman urged anyone with information to contact them.

The spokesman said: “We are saddened to hear of reports that cats in this area of Kettering appear to be targeted like this.

“We urge anyone who has any information to contact us on 0300 1234 999.”
