A45 closed due to police incident
Traffic is at a standstill
The A45 remains closed at Northampton this afternoon because of an ongoing police incident.
Just after midday Highways England said the A45 westbound at Barnes Meadow had closed with traffic diverted by police using the slip roads.
They later added that it had closed in both directions.
Traffic has backed up all the way past the Riverside retail park in one direction and the Wootton Hall Park roundabout in the other.
Traffic is also slow on the A428 and A5095.
Police have not confirmed the nature of the incident and it's not yet known when the A45 will re-open.
