23-year-old motorcyclist drifted for unknown reasons during fatal collision near Rothwell

A 23-year-old man has died after a fatal collision near Rothwell.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm yesterday (September 19) in Lamport Road between Rothwell and Lamport.

A motorcyclist was travelling westbound on a green and black Kawasaki ER650 motorbike and for unknown reasons drifted wide round a left-hand bend, crossed the opposite carriageway and collided with a hedgerow.

The rider was unseated and the bike came to rest further down the road in the nearside hedgerow.

Northamptonshire Police has confirmed the 23-year-old man was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire where he was pronounced dead.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the incident to come forward by calling Drivewatch on 0800 174 615 quoting incident number 638.
