The National Trust Canon’s Ashby are running a seasonal family trail until the beginning of November. It is called the Autumn Bat Trail and it is at no extra cost. Visitors can just pick up the trail guide from the reception on their way in.

As the days grow chilly and we venture into the spooky season, this trail is perfect for families who want to have fun with their little ones whilst also allowing plenty of space for social distancing.

The Autumn Bat Trail runs in the parkland, an incident area of land with all the lumps and bumps left by people who used to live and farm there hundreds of years ago.

There is plenty of space to run around without bumping into other people. Dogs can even come along too so long as they are kept on a short leash because there are livestock in the area.

Whilst taking a leisurely walk, families can spot the bats along the trail and answer questions to become bat experts together.

Visitors can also have a look at the historic house, search for insects or birds, enjoy a light lunch from the tea-kiosk and explore the shop too.
