This follows after the charity’s success with their last beauty pageant, which they hosted in October. The winners were two female Husky sisters, Star and Snowy.

To congratulate them on their win, a young artist - Josie Baughan - painted their portrait which was then auctioned off to raise money for the RSPCA’s new animal centre.

Head of operations at the RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch, Richard Burns, said: “The two husky girls came into our care through the inspectorate due to the owner struggling and the dogs being severely underweight, particularly Star, but they have since gained weight and in good health and soon to be ready for adoption.

“The idea for the pageant came in part from the huskies themselves. We have such beautiful animals come through our care. We decided to run the first pageant with all the animals we had in with us at the time.”

The Christmas pageant is open to anyone who has adopted a pet from RSPCA Northamptonshire. Pet owners are asked to submit their chosen photo to [email protected] by December 3.

The winner of the beauty pageant will be announced on December 8.

After Christmas, RSPCA Northamptonshire will be selecting one of the animals in their care once a month to have a portrait painted of them that can then be auctioned off to help raise funds for their new centre.

Mr Burns added: “Watch out for the Valentine’s Day couples pageant in February.”
