Anyone heading to Northampton General Hospital this weekend is being warned to plan ahead as roads around the site will be effectively split in two.

Giant cranes move in from 8pm tonight to carry out work as part of a facelift for the southern entrance at NGH.

Cars will be able to get in from the Cliftonville entrance and get access to car park one - and also from Billing Road and Cheyne Walk to access the other car parks on the west of the site.

But the road linking the two will be blocked off until 3am on Monday so vehicles will only be able to get out the way they came in.

Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Work started in January on the three-month project to build a reception area with a Costa Coffee, Subway, M&S Simply Food and Stock Shop at the hospital.
