A Kettering wellbeing centre has opened its doors for the first time in almost five months after it was forced to close during lockdown.

The Ironstone Wellbeing Centre in Ironstone Place closed its doors in March and started to offer free online classes but is finally able to re-open since the government gave gyms and health facilities the go-ahead on July 25.

The centre opened on Monday, August 3 and Harry Hewetson, studio director, said: "We’re thrilled to be re-opening to the public now that the lockdown restrictions are finally being relaxed.

"For those of you who may not have heard of us, we are situated on the outskirts of Kettering, just behind the Holiday Inn, and are Northamptonshire’s first purpose-built wellbeing centre."

The centre offers dozens of classes in hot yoga, Pilates, Hatha yoga, meditation and mindfulness, FitSteps and more.

There are three studios, one with infra-red heat panels for hot classes, and there are therapy rooms to unwind with a massage or have an appointment with the in-house chiropractor or nutritional therapist.

While its doors were shut, the centre offered free classes online to people via Facebook and encouraged NHS staff and other key workers to take advantage to stay fit and healthy during the Covid-19 crisis.

As part of the centre's re-opening celebrations, 30 days of unlimited classes is being offered for £30 to existing and new members.

Harry said: "We very much see ourselves as a community hub and wanted to do something to support the health and wellbeing of the people around us during these extremely difficult times."

The Ironstone Wellbeing Centre also has conference facilities that can be hired out as a meeting room, training facility or event space.
