Most of us haven't put our Christmas tree up yet, but a team of Kettering fundraisers are making plans to take them off people's hands once the festive season is over.

The team at Cransley Hospice will be collecting and recycling real Christmas trees in return for a donation in support of the hospice and other local charities.

Whether you have a Fraser Fir or a Norway Spruce, if it’s a real tree the hospice volunteers will merrily come and collect it from your front door on January 8 or 9 if you live in one of these postcodes in the north of the county:

- All houses in NN8, NN15

- Limited areas within, NN16, NN9, NN14 and NN29

Ten per cent of all donations will go to support other local charities and the trees collected will be recycled and used in Northamptonshire. All the chippings are going to be used locally at Wicksteed Park and Wellingborough Golf Course, and some of the wood for the trees will be used at Boughton House.

Funds will be a welcome boost to the hospice, which has had to cancel many of their fundraising events this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Fundraising manager Louise Preedy said: “As with so many businesses, charities and individuals our plans for 2020 have been hugely affected by the pandemic.

"The wonderful thing about the tree recycling is that you don’t need to have any of the hassle of disposing of your tree, we come to you.

"Your support will be making a huge difference, not just to the hospice, but other local charities too and we have found ways for the trees to be recycled and used locally."

Cransley Hospice are also looking for volunteers to join the #CransleyCrew to help with the collection of the trees and welcome anyone, that has, or can drive a van, as well as anyone that can help collect the trees and bring a little festive cheer to your door.

Anyone interested in volunteering or booking a collection should visit the website at https://www.cransleyhospice.org.uk/event/christmas-tree-recycling-2021/ for more information or
