Wellingborough store closes for deep clean after confirmed Covid case
The convenience store was closed last weekend
A Wellingborough store closed for a deep clean after a member of staff tested positive for Covid-19.
The positive case meant customers were unable to shop at Morrisons Daily store on the town's Kingsway estate last weekend.
A spokesman for McColl’s told the Northants Telegraph: “We can confirm that the Morrisons Daily store in Wellingborough’s Kingsway estate was closed on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of January after a colleague tested positive for Covid-19.
"Following the store’s closure, we conducted a deep clean in line with the latest health and safety standards, and all colleagues are following isolation guidelines.
"The store re-opened on Monday 1st February.
“The health, safety and well-being of our colleagues and customers remains our absolute priority during his time as we continue to keep the local communities we serve supplied with the food, goods and services they need.
"We continue to proactively follow Public Health England guidelines and keep our protocols under constant review.”
Latest figures show that Wellingborough's seven-day rate of positive Covid cases puts it at 57th when compared to local authorities across the country.
The borough's rate is 300 per 100,000 people, with Wellingborough's total number of cases standing at 4,036.
