Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed on Monday England will return to the the three-tiered coronavirus alert system introduced last month to allow a localised approach to curbing the spread of Covid-19.

Northamptonshire was placed in the lowest tier — Tier One — but cases have continued to rise despite the lockdown, which was introduced on November 5, and indications are that most of the country will be in Tier Two with more stringent restrictions from December 2.

There are some restrictions which will apply nationally, irrespective of which tier areas are in.

These are the updated restrictions detailed in the PM's "Winter Plan":

Tier 1: Medium
