Three more coronavirus deaths among patients in Northamptonshire hospitals

Three more coronavirus deaths have today been confirmed at Northamptonshire's two main hospitals.

NHS England included the information in Friday's daily bulletin that two patients died at Northampton General Hospital and one at Kettering General Hospital, all on Wednesday (November 4).

All three had either tested positive for Covid-19 within the previous 28 days or had the virus mentioned on their death certificate.

The news broke less than hour before Public Health officials and council leaders are due to address the media in their weekly Covid-19 press conference.

Today's sad news takes the total to 27 deaths among coronavirus patients in the county — 17 at Northampton and ten at Kettering General Hospital — during the 'second wave' of the pandemic.

NHS England confirmed 113 deaths on November 4 among patients in NHS Trusts countrywide. Of those, 109 where in the over-60 age group.

Covid-19 was already linked to 311 deaths in Northampton and 220 in Kettering between March and August.

A further 152 coronavirus-related deaths in county care homes have also been notified by the Care Quality Commission.

Northamptonshire has seen record rises in the number of positive Covid-19 tests on successive days with labs confirming 478 new cases in the latest 24-hour reporting periods.
