Ten more victims have been added to the grim total of Covid-19 patients dying in Northamptonshire's two main hospitals.

Latest Government figures released on Wednesday (May 13) revealed eight of the latest deaths reported in the 24 hours up to 5pm on Tuesday (May 12) were at Kettering General Hospital.

Two more patients died at Northampton General Hospital on Sunday (May 10) and Monday (May 11), taking the total to 334 at the county's two NHS trusts.

Front line staff battling the Covid-19 crisis at the Cliftonville site have now seen 198 patients die since the first victims in the county on March 16.

A further 136 have died at Kettering including the latest eight revealed today between May 1 and Tuesday (May 12).

These latest numbers relate to data collated at 5pm on Tuesday (May 12) and only include hospitalised cases.

Office for National Statistics yesterday revealed a total of 81 coronavirus-related deaths in county care homes up to May 8.

Public Health England revealed 229,705 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 in all settings across the UK of which 33,186 people have died, a rise of 494 since Tuesday's bulletin.
