A pupil at a Corby primary school has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a letter sent to parents and carers yesterday (Tuesday, September 8), Studfall Junior Academy said a Year 4 pupil had tested positive for Covid-19 but there was no need for any of the school's bubbles to also isolate.

"We have sought advice from Public Health England and due to the fact that the child was not in school since Friday, had no symptoms and was only tested due to a family member being tested positive, that we do not need to close any bubbles etc...

"We will continue with our high level of handwashing, cleaning etc... We also ask that parents remember to try and socially distance when dropping off and picking up their children."

She also said any parents or carers with concerns should call or email her.

Studfall Junior School is part of Greenwood Academies Trust.

A spokesman for the trust said: "The health, safety and well-being of our pupils and staff is our top priority which is why, after a pupil tested positive for COVID-19, we acted immediately and worked closely alongside Public Health England and the Health Protection Team to ensure the necessary steps and precautions were taken.

"As a result, the affected pupil is now self-isolating. Our contact tracing and robust health and safety and hygiene measures have allowed us to effectively respond to this case and ensure the school continues to be safe for all other pupils and staff.

"We will be in regular contact with pupils, parents and staff to provide reassurance and up-to-date information and encourage anyone with concerns to contact the academy directly so that we can provide the necessary support."
