Northamptonshire MPs' thoughts and prayers with Boris as PM spends night in intensive care

Northamptonshire's MPs have joined forces to send Boris Johnson their good wishes after he spent the night in intensive care in a London hospital.
The Prime Minister was admitted to St Thomas' Hospital for routine tests on Sunday after battling Covid-19 symptoms for ten days.

Hide AdBut his condition worsened last night (Monday) and doctors took the condition to move him to intensive careHis pregnant finacée Carry Symonds has also been suffering symptoms of the bug,
Wellingborough's Conservative MP Peter Bone told BBC Radio Northampton: "Everyone's thoughts and prayers are for Boris and Carrie and we just hope he gets better as quickly as possible.
"This just shows how deadly and horrible this virus is and that's why staying at home, protecting the NHS and saving lives is so important.
"Maybe this will bring it home to people because it's the leader of our country.

Hide Ad"The Government is set up to run successfully under Dominic Raab because it is set up to do that and so all he's got to do is concentrate on getting better.


"It's affecting so many people across the country and in Northamptonshire and people need to follow the advice.
"I know people who've come through this illness within seven days but some people it just doesn't go away and you finish up in hospital.
"Many people don't even know they've had it but in some cases unfortunately it carries on and you have to go into hospital. It's just not predictable."

Hide AdNorthamptonshire's two NHS hospitals at Northampton and Kettering are now dealing with the biggest surge in Covid-19 cases yet with 41 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed in the county.


The official number of deaths in the UK stands 5,373 while 51,608 have tested positive nationwide with updated figures due to be released this afternoon.
Northampton South MP Andrew Lewer tweeted last night: "All our thoughts and prayers are with the Prime Minister this evening — wishing you a speedy recovery.
And South Northamptonshire's Andrea Leadsom — who was sacked as business secretary in Johnson's February cabinet reshuffle — tweeted: "Get well soon. We are all thinking of you and Praying for you."

Hide AdTransport minister Chris Heaton-Harris, who represents Daventry, said: "Thinking of Boris Johnson and his family tonight. Get well soon. You are in great hands and we all want you safe, well and back in 10 Downing Street."
Kettering MP Philip Hollobone added: "We were all shocked by the news but he couldn't bein better hands."
