A charity which has already missed out on thousands of pounds from fundraising due to Covid is now facing a new financial challenge.

With the pandemic meaning that almost all fundraising has been cancelled this year, Animals In Need has been left short of thousands of pounds that they would normally receive through donations or fundraisers.

Annie Marriott from the Little Irchester charity says they fear it has cost them more than £60,000 in fundraising, but now they have mounting bills to add to their worries.

Annie told the Northants Telegraph: "The past two months have seen us run up over £17,000 in bills.

"Vet bills, feed, bedding the list goes on and on.

"Sadly because of Covid all our normal fundraising, dog shows, pub quizzes, open days and store collections were cancelled meaning we have missed seeing many of our supporters.

"Our charity shop and cafe had to keep closing in line with Covid regulations.

"But we are busier than ever and receiving desperate requests for help daily."

While the volunteers will continue to look after the animals throughout the Christmas period, Animals In Need will not be open to the public.

Annie added: "Someone is at the shelter 24/7 but we are now closed for re-homing until January as Christmas is no time to settle a new animal into a home."

Anyone who would like to make a donation to help cover the cost of the invaluable work provided by the team at Animals In Need can do so via this fundraising page or on Paypal via [email protected].
