Large coronavirus testing site up and running in Kettering

A large coronavirus test site has been set up in Kettering as confirmed cases continue to rise in the town.

There have been 15 new cases confirmed in Kettering since Wednesday last week, more than any other borough in the north of the county.

Public health officials revealed on Sunday, July 26, that Kettering and Corby are being closely monitored due to increasing trends over recent weeks and test sites were being planned for both towns.

The test site in Kettering opened today (Thursday, July 30) in the London Road car park by Kettering swimming pool.

The large testing site is made up of two long marquees and there is a security presence.

It is not one of the previous mobile testing units that have appeared for just a weekend and officials said they could not confirm how long the testing site would be in place for.

Public health officials are urging anyone with symptoms to book a test and to isolate at home. Today (Thursday), the government increased the isolation period from seven days to 10.

Anyone with symptoms, even mild, should book a test through nhs.uk/coronavirus.
