"The small number of children who have been in close contact with the individual who has tested positive for coronavirus have received a letter informing them that their child must stay at home for 14 days."

The school's letter did not specify if it was a member of staff or pupil that had tested positive, nor which year groups have been affected and how many pupils are self-isolating.

It is the fourth confirmed case at Bishop Stopford School. The first was confirmed back in September, with another on October 2. A third case was confirmed on October 6.

There are now 19 schools in the north of the county that have confirmed coronavirus cases since children returned to schools in September.

In today's press conference, Northamptonshire director of public health, Lucy Wightman, said children aged 10 to 19 were accounting for the most new positive coronavirus cases.
