Every single resident at a Kettering care home has now been given the first of two Covid vaccine jabs.

Thorndale care home owners Shaw Healthcare say they are one of the first in the region to announce every resident has had a jab, almost a month ahead of the Government's target of offering a vaccine to all priority groups by mid-February.

It means those living at the Malham Drive care home will have some protection from the virus ahead of a booster jab at a later date.

Staff and residents at Shaw Healthcare’s five other homes in Northamptonshire will also receive the vaccine by the end of the month.

Stacey Meredith, regional operations director for Shaw healthcare, said: “I cannot describe how hard our staff have worked throughout this pandemic and the indescribable pressures it has put on them, as well as the residents and their families.

"Despite this they have kept pushing forward and doing what they can to ensure residents remain safe – putting smiles on their faces as they do it.

“While we know we are far from being out of the woods yet, it is important we celebrate these milestones and some real progress in our battle against this horrible virus.”
