The government has broken down the whole country into 'middle layer super output areas' that have about 7,200 people living in them to make comparisons easier. They are loosely based on council wards.

The latest data shows all deaths between the beginning of March and the end of May, which were registered up to June 6, but there is a time delay between the deaths and their registration. The deaths are linked with where the person lived, not where they died.
